Thames Valley Midwives requires community support in requesting trained second attendants to assist us at both home and hospital deliveries. Second attendants are trained in neonatal resuscitation as well as in emergency skills such as CPR. Midwives require second attendants at birth to to care for newborns while they care for mothers who have just delivered. In order for Thames Valley Midwives to request approval from the College of Midwives of Ontario for the utilization of second attendants, we must acquire twenty signatures demonstrating support.
