Burnaby secondary schools are restricted from bringing people outside of their school and grade to their prom. This once in a lifetime experience should not be ruined or negatively affected by extremely restricted and unfair rules determined by the district.

With payment, application, and supervision to advocate safety, students in Burnaby should receive the right to bring students from other schools and grades as many other districts in the province do.

As students from school district 41. we fully understand the purpose of prom being to celebrate our completion of secondary school. However, this is an event that we wish to celebrate from start to finish with loved ones and friends that do not attend our schools.

with your signature, we hope to make this possible for this year's graduates, and grad classes to come.

I HAVE BEEN SPENDING MY ENTIRE AFTERNOON READING THE STORIES YOU ARE ALL POSTING ABOUT WHY THESE PROM RULES MUST CHANGE!! THE ENERGY IS UNSTOPPABLE AND WE ARE MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE DISTRICT TO IGNORE OUR DEMAND FOR FAIRNESS!!

April 3, 2016

THIS MOMENTUM IS ABSOLUTELY ELECTRIC AND SHOWS THAT WE ALL DESERVE A PROM WITHOUT THESE UNFAIR RESTRICTIONS!! SEEING THIS GROUNDSWELL OF ENERGY PROVES THAT STUDENTS ARE READY TO CELEBRATE WITH OUR FRIENDS REGARDLESS OF WHICH DISTRICT SCHOOL THEY ATTEND!!

You should be able to take your bf, gf to your prom no matter what grade or school they go to. It's an important day for us to graduate so why can't we share it with the person we love

This was an opportunity that I never had the chance to have when I graduated. I know that this would surely be greatly appreciated by the student body of Burnaby North.

I don't see why this is such a big deal. They won't even look at the idea of one person coming from a different school with permission.

Brendan, I feel that many schools would appreciate if the rule was lifted, its really sad that many past grads either didn't attend prom or didn't enjoy it fully because they couldn't bring the person of their choice

The rule of not being able to bring our friends to our prom stops us from celebrating with ones who supported us.

One of the main reasons why I couldn't attend prom. My date was outside or the school

We should be able to bring atleast one person from another school to prom.

Last year when I couldn't bring my girlfriend from another district to my Prom, she almost broke up with me. I had to invest an additional $200 dollars of my university tuition funds into purchasing "make-up" chocolate and other expensive feminine accessories to maintain my own sanity. University students are poor, life is short, let's make this petition a reality.
