Uniforms have pros and cons. It causes students to look more professional, look at personality other than material clothes, and reduce gang activity. But there are also lots of cons. It restricts the student's form of self expression, makes dress code violations more hectic, and makes the student feel as if their opinion on the subject doesn't matter. Uniforms can also have an affect in the budget of lower class families who can't afford new clothes. Instead of a uniform policy, make stricter punishments on the existing dress code. I have been reading through the comments all morning and honestly the stories about the financial strain on families are just heart-wrenching. It feels like the school board is totally disconnected from what is actually happening in our daily lives which is why I am putting together a packet of these experiences to drop off at the district office later this week.

My parents spend more on school clothes than they do on clothes for me and my sister combined with my other family members and it is a struggle to buy all this and make Payments on everything else at home.
I completely agree they don't allow students to express how they feel and how they are and makes every student look completely the same when no students are the same at all people think that if students wear uniforms it will reduce the amount of bullying school but it will not students will always find something to pick on other students about so uniforms are really just a waste of time effort and money
Nobody can ever really show anything about their true personality, it's always about wearing a uniform to make us look the same as everyone else when nobody is really the same. Some of us use clothes to express who we are and even know the rules are way to strict with uniforms.
Uniform policy needed to be voted on before it was put into action. Gives no self expression, expensive when you have to buy school clothes and regular clothes, and seems like busy work for staff policing the dress code. You need to stop the people from selling and smoking weed at your high schools police that!!!
the uniforms dont help they have the same problems as regular clothes. Girls still wear tight pants and boys still sag there pants so whats the point of uniforms, you still have the same problems. So if its the dame whats the point of having uniform you can just keep regular clothes and just put more effective rules on them

i miss wearing my clothes ......besides it so hard to fine school uniforms....whats the point of wearing it, its no like their going to pay for em......i have a bunch of clothes i can wear for school instead of uniforms

My brother has now had three different uniforms in two years, he went to one school for one year, another school for just a couple weeks, and the school he's currently attending to. Those uniforms are costly, we had to search stores for the exact colored shirt so he wouldn't have to be sent to ISS for it. And what are we to do with the ones he doesn't need anymore? None of our cousins can wear then because they either don't fit or worse, they go to a different school. I have never shopped so much for my own personal clothes that I wear outside of school than for school uniforms. The only thing I should have to go to the store yearly for is school supplies, since they actually contribute to my learning and education.
