The new additions to the East Ridge High School dress code will cause more problems than create solutions.
To begin, the students have been informed way too late in the summer. Parents and guardians do not have enough time or money to prepare for this sudden change. Most students have collected school spirit shirts over the years because they prefer these shirts to polos. Polos can be expensive and also very uncomfortable for some students, as tucking them in makes them feel self-conscious. In addition, freshmen have to wear navy blue polos. This would allow freshmen to be singled out, as well as create a segregated environment..
It is starting to seem like they are more worried about the way we dress than they are our educations. School is a place for learning, not a place where students should be removed from class in order to be reprimanded for dressing in the clothing that is made available to them.
We respectfully request that the faculty reconsider the new, stricter rules to the dress code. Thank you for your consideration, the East Ridge High School student body.

One hundred signatures proves the administration is dead wrong about their ridiculous dress code. The school board needs to stop policing our closets and start focusing on our actual education.

It is starting to seem like they are more worried about the way we dress than they are our educations. School is a place for learning, not a place where students should be removed from class in order to be reprimanded for dressing in the clothing that is made available to them.
Agreed. It is too late in the year to make such changes. At this time our budgets do not permit for a whole new wardrobe to start school.....if this information was known prior to the end of last year why was a notice not sent to the parents?
This is ridiculous! Freshman should not be singled out & school spirit shirts were showing school spirit what happened to that. It's already bad they have to wear uniforms considering it's a public school not a private school.
this new dress code makes know sense to me what so ever they have informed this dress code way to late when parents have already started to buy there kids stuff only to know they have to take it back and follow what east ridge high has given us
what does dress code have to do with our education? if anything this will have a negative impact because the students will go to school pissed off because of what they are forced to wear and will not want to do anything in class. fix this nonsense.
I KNOW THAT EAST RIDGE HIGH CAN BE ONE OF THE BEST HAMILTON COUNTY SCHOOLS!!!!! LET US WEAR ANY KIND OF CLOTHING PLEASE!!
Also the no dress code can also mean: Jeans, skirts with shorts inside any kind of shirts no belly bottomed and strapless shirt, dresses allowed, sweatpants allowed, shorts,........

This dress code is way too strict. Especially having one grade dress in colors different from other grades. Don't think that would make me feel like I was accepted and a part of the school. I see nothing wrong with t-shirts that have the school name on them.
