St. Rita School parents do not support the proposed addition of 20 school days to the current academic calendar by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the Department of Catholic Schools. We believe it is a poorly erected plan that lacks solid and justifiable reasoning. Furthermore, we have gathered a plethora of research, facts and statistics that challenge their position. Our school is a stong performing one with student test scores well above the national average and among the top of the Archdiocese Catholic Schools. Every one of our 2010 8th grade graduates were accepted into Catholic High Schools...an impressive feat in parochial schools. St. Rita students entering high school test academic years above 9th grade. We believe summer break is a valuable time for families to reconnect with their children without the stresses or time restraints of a school year. We also believe It provides a crucial opportunity to strengthen family bonds, and build a loving and secure foundation to give our children the courage they need to thrive in the world.
