Saugatuck is long overdue for thoughtful, forward-thinking development. Development that enhances quality of life while addressing critical concerns like traffic congestion and public safety; development that balances infrastructure improvements with the town’s character. The increased scope and scale of ROAN's updated Hamlet plan fails on all of these goals. The undersigned requests that the P and Z and other town officials deny the current application with recommendations for a minimum of a 40% reduction in scope and scale. P&Z, please DO NOT approve this plan. A frequent user of the Saugatuck train station, I can attest that traffic and parking are already horrific. I support revitalization of the area but the scope and scale of the proposed project is untenable.
I live within 1/2 mile of the proposed project. While I am pretty confident it will increase my home value, I cannot support this project as it will very likely bring traffic to a standstill. Anyone claiming anything else is lying to themselves and others.
Have lived and worked in Westport since 1973! This added development will just continue to destroy the ambiance and charm that our town once had back in the day! There will also be gridlock off exit 17 and Saugatuck Ave. And Bridge street!
I was born and raised in the little New England town called Westport. The 2022 rendition recalls the Saugatuck of the past. Keeping with a New England town. The 2025 proposed is completely outrageous. It looks like an industrial city! Awful! Keep Westport beautiful!
Well conceived redevelopment of Saugatuck will have a significant impact on the future of Westport. This text change and the plan presented is too large in scale, is architecturally out of character with the town and proposes an unworkable parking plan.
Stop destroying Westport!!!! It's a coastal New England town not the base area at Stratton Mtn!
Bullying the town to get your way is abominable.
