Say NO to a Busy Day Care Center in Green Knolls, Eastchester!

Dear Scarsdale and Eastchester Residents, particularly residents of Green Knolls / Greenvale,
Please join us in resisting the permit for special land use of 32 Harney Road, Scarsdale to establish a Child Day Care Center in their residence at the critical intersection of three streets in a cul-de-sac residential neighborhood. If this is permitted, it opens the door for similar special use permits in 100% residential neighborhoods in Westchester.
Objections include among others:
- Increased traffic flow in a No-Through Traffic street at a critical intersection to access and egress 180+ homes at rush hour times
- Cars idling in an intersection and No Standing zone waiting for one of only two parking spots for drop offs and pickups of young pre-K children aged 18 mos. and up
- Increased noise & nuisance on a 100% residential street (7am - 6:30 pm)
- Hazardous condition which may endanger the health and safety of Green Knolls residents in particular given intersection will be blocked at critical times in the event of emergency as police, ambulances, fire departments need to enter neighborhood
- Opens the potential for other “in house businesses” in Eastchester, Scarsdale and nearby neighborhoods
- Loss of privacy, diminished use and character of neighborhood and deterioration of home values
For the over one hundred years since 1924, the Green Knolls / Greenvale community has maintained its character and status as a premier neighborhood. It’s been a thriving community with a friendly neighborhood feel. Please do not allow this special land use permit to create an unsafe situation at a critical intersection in our neighborhood where cars, school buses, commuter buses and pedestrians travel to get to school, work, stores, Metronorth train station, Bronx River Parkway, White Plains Road, BRP walking paths and more.
Please show your Support for our Neighborhood & Act now by either:
