Savusavu Hospital standards need urgent review by the Ministry of Health.
A plan for this urgent reform must be put into place and published.
Basic medical equipment must be on hand and listed in the plan for reform.
A suitable senior doctor must be installed to avoid lengthy referrals from Labasa hospital.
A doctor must be on duty 24 hours and present in case of emergency within 10 minutes.
Cleanliness and sanitization standards must be addressed and improved immediately.
Plant and Machinery must be regularly serviced with contingencies in place.

I spent the whole morning reading through the stories you all keep sending about your experiences at the hospital and honestly it just confirms that we are right to push for these changes because nobody should have to deal with those conditions during a health crisis. I am trying to organize all of this feedback into a proper document for the ministry but it is a massive pile of paper and I keep getting distracted by how heartbreaking some of these accounts are.

I totally agree.The hospital needs upgrading and qualified medical staff to serve the people in Savusavu.I lose a loved one last year because of poor services and could not attend to her funeral because she was buried the day she passed away as their were no generator for the mortuary.
It’s essential that the residents of Savusavu stretching up to the Tunuloa Coast have an emergency department. As a nurse myself the idea of having no nursing or medical personnel on standby 24/7 make my blood run cold. I worry for my family in Savusavu.
Included should be the repair of their large backup generator which hasn't run in years. Following TC Ana, families were asked to rermove their loved ones from the morgue because the small backup generator donated a few months ago, is only big enough to run the ICU.
There is essential hospital equipment & resources that aren’t available, yet could save lives. It is unjust and inexcusable for lives to be lost when the simplest of things could prevent this, I.e back up generator for power & pain relief medications
This hospital is in huge disrepair and it should be the right of every person living on this island to have access to a Clean environment, good doctors and properly installed and working medical equipment. his would surely would no be allowed if this hospital was operating in Suva!

I went there for a check and they told that they will call when doctors arrive from labasa, been weeks now no one called and also the stuff is not at their station when patients need to see them. Had to wait for more than 2 hours to finally go through a nurse then doctor
