To the Motion Picture Television Fund Board of Directors: We, the undersigned concerned citizens and members of the Entertainment Industry, strongly urge you to immediately REVERSE YOUR DECISION TO CLOSE THE LONG-TERM CARE FACILITY AT THE MOTION PICTURE TELEVISION HOME. Many industry workers have contributed to the MPTF throughout their careers with the expectation that this all-important safety net would remain in place and its now 88-year-old mission to "take care of our own" would continue as promised for our generation and those that follow. We are also concerned about the adverse effects this threatened closure is having on the elderly residents of this nursing home and their families -- including the INCREASED DEATH RATE of both residents and transferees. It's not too late. For the sake of these elderly residents' lives and those who need this facility in the future, KEEP THE MPTF NURSING HOME OPEN!

Updates

June 26, 2009

The stories shared by families regarding the necessity of this facility are deeply moving and reveal the urgency of our mission. I am currently reaching out to industry stakeholders to ensure that the board understands the gravity of this decision.

June 26, 2009

The momentum behind this petition has grown significantly and demonstrates a clear demand for the board to preserve this facility. This collective message confirms that the industry expects the leadership to honor the foundational promise to care for our own.

Moving elderly patients is dangerous and frankly cruel. leave them where they are comfortable and safe.

Unbelievable. They worked their whole lives expecting this safety net and now the rug gets pulled out under them. Keep it open.
