To the current Board of Trustees of the Public Health Trust in Miami Dade County:
We are writing this petition in response to the recent plans to permanently close the Jackson South Women's Health Center.
Jackson South is the only hospital in Miami Dade county staffed 24 hours a day by Certified Nurse Midwives. Therefore, it is the only hospital facility in which a woman has the choice to have her birth attend by a CNM. We demand this service be continued.
The closing of the Women's Center would be discriminatory as the center provides healthcare for many of the poor and marginalized members of our community.

One hundred people have spoken up to protect the midwives and patients at Jackson South. Seeing this many neighbors refuse to let our care be taken away is fueling our next steps.

Seeing this momentum grow reminds me of the countless families who depend on these midwives for safe, compassionate care. I started this because I know exactly how vital this center is for our community and your response proves that we are not alone in this fight.

This place is a lifeline for so many of us in the neighborhood. You cant just take away the only option we have for care like this.
Disgraceful. These women rely on this center for real support. Think about the community for once instead of the budget.
Need this center. Best care in miami period.
My wife delivered both our kids there and the midwives were incredible. Why would you cut such a vital service? Keep it open!
Its absolutely wrong to target the people who need this help the most. Leave Jackson South alone.
