This petition is to prevent an over 100% increase to the rent of the Niagara Sports and Social Club. The City of Welland want's to raise the price of the club from $52,000 annually, to $120,000 annually. Their response to the increase in rent? “You have to look at what the value of the property is, and he has to appreciate that he has to pay for it,” -Leo Van Vliet Ward 2 council. But who will be the ones paying for it if the club is gone? Us, the people, everyone will be affected from the 11 year old that can't go play sports, to the 80 year old that can't go and watch, and this is us, the undersigned. We will not stand by and watch poor leadership, and decision making skills ruin what has becomes such a great escape for many people in the Niagara Region.
