The City of Santa Barbara has given away Las Positas Tennis Courts for $1 per year to Elings Park.

Fees are scheduled to rise sharply from $150/year to over triple the amount to $495/year for a single membership

Elings, seemingly disinterested in managing the facility has turned the courts over to new  FOR PROFIT management. They will receive half of all of our fees and so far they have done little to improve the courts or programs in any significant way.

The current membership feels that this amounts to a privatization of public courts.

We want the City of Santa Barbara to schedule a City Council Meeting to review the best management practices for the courts to maintain the spirit of the lease.

LOW COST, PUBLIC ACCESS TO OUR PUBLIC PARK FACILITIES.

We feel a non profit management group, which we are offering to the park, is the best way to manage the facility in absence of City management.

PLEASE SIGN OUR PETITION STOP THE EROSION OF PUBLIC ACCESS TO PUBLIC OWNED FACILITIES!

I spent countless hours on these courts with my daughter and watching them be sold off for profit breaks my heart. We are getting very near our goal of two hundred fifty names and I need you to push this link to your neighbors right now. We must have this momentum before we walk into the city offices.

I spent countless hours on these courts with my kids and seeing them disappear behind a paywall breaks my heart. We are almost at one hundred signatures so please text this link to three people who believe these courts belong to us.

Ridiculous price hike. This is supposed to be a public park not a country club.
