In some states across America, there are no laws protecting animals from being chained outside all day. As long as the animal has shelter, which can be as little as shade from a tree, and water, it is considered legal. Don't you think that should change?

The momentum behind this petition proves that people are finally sick of watching these corporations and state legislatures ignore the basic welfare of animals. This tide is turning and the politicians refusing to protect these vulnerable creatures are going to have to answer for their cruelty.

Someone in my neighborhood kept their dog on a least outside all day. The dog was always just chained there, all day, no one with him. Its disgusting how people think they can get a dog then just abandon it outside without them. The dog in my neighborhood eventually died of a heat stroke, since the dog could barely reach the small tree in the persons yard. This needs to stop, no animal deserves abuse.
This is not ok. If you can't have a dog in your home, you don't belong having a dog.
Chaining a dog up outside long enough for them to go to the bathroom is waaaaay different than chaining them up all day. I know people who do this. When it's too hot and when it's too cold, and when it's raining. It needs to stop.
How is this okay? Humans wouldn't want to spend ALL day outside, why would dogs?
Imagine if it were legal in some states to keep your kid chained up in their room all day. Without letting them go to school, perform basic needs adequately (eat, pee/poop, rest, etc). It's in the same caliber.

I honestly feel disgusted. People shouldn't be allowed to get a dog if they're not going to treat them like they're part of the family.
