Yes, I'm a voter and I join Dogs Deserve Better in asking that the following legislation be enacted in Milledgeville,GA:

 A. No person shall, at any time, continuously keep a dog tethered, fastened, chained, tied or restrained to a dog house, tree, fence or any other stationary object for more than three hours in a twenty four hour period. When tethered, food, water and adequate shade and shelter for all types of weather must be provided.

 B. Dog chains must weigh 1/8 less than the weight of the dog and have swivels on both ends so that the chain is less likely to get tangled.

 C. Owners must never use a choke or training collar on a chained dog.  Dog owners should use a flat, buckled and properly fitting collar.

I see these dogs while I walk through my neighborhood every morning and it breaks my heart to see them left alone on those heavy chains. People are finally starting to speak up about these conditions and I am now working to get this in front of the local council members.

Seeing this kind of momentum feels like a weight lifting off my shoulders for the dogs I see suffering in my own neighborhood every single day. We have clearly touched a nerve that the local council can no longer ignore.

My neighbor leaves his dog out in the rain constantly. It breaks my heart. Please pass this!

Too many people think a dog is just a security system. They need love and space to move around. Good work.

About time we got some common sense laws here. Keeping a dog tied to a tree all day is just plain cruel. Stop the suffering.

Living in Milledgeville and seeing these poor pups chained up 24/7 in the heat is just heartbreaking. They are family pets, not lawn ornaments.

THANK GOD someone is doing something about this. I hate seeing those heavy chains on such small dogs.

These animals deserve better treatment. Glad to see someone taking a stand for the ones who cant speak for themselves.
