This is a petition to fight the vote the BOE had to close Westbrook Elementary West Islip,NY. The Board voted to close one of the bigger schools that can educate enough students when and if two smaller schools were to close. The school voted on, Westbrook which has more than enough classrooms to accomodate the two smaller schools along with the three other school slated to stay open. The board has stated there were saftey issues with Westbrook, yet we have not seen anything that shows why.There has not been any facts other than the property may be a more profitable leaseable property.But that is not what the BOE is for,is it? It should be in the best interest of the education of children.Please sign and pass along this petition if you feel like the BOE has made the wrong decision for our children.
