URBAN YOUTH ACTION (UYA) has been a pillar in youth workforce development and violence prevention in the city of Pittsburgh for over 45 years. UYA has served more than 25,000 youth through training sessions focusing on economic development, workforce development, life skills and much more. With youth crime growing at an alarming rate and African American youth dropping out of school and giving up on their future, we need what has been PROVEN to work. The Board of Directors of UYA has recently announced that they will be closing its doors for good on Oct 31, 2011. Please join me in letting the Board and the world know that we still need this empowering program to continue. The founder (Bernard H. Jones Sr.) believed that we as a people must never give up. By signing this petition you will be telling the board that we need this program for the future of our youth. Please Pass the Word!!!!!! Sincerely, Family of the late Bernard H. Jones Sr. and Alumni of UYA Contact: [email protected] Feel free to contact us and share how UYA has touched your life

UYA is the only reason I finished my GED. Show some respect for the legacy Bernard built.

Ridiculous that they would close something that actually works. We need more spots like this in the city not less. Keep it open!

This place literally changed my life back in 04. Without UYA I would probably be in jail or dead. You guys cannot shut this down now.

Too many kids in this city are struggling. UYA is a lifeline. Dont let it close.

My son benefitted so much from their job training. They help kids who have nowhere else to go. Please rethink this decision!!

45 years of service just thrown away?? Total garbage move by the board.
