Due to government cutbacks, councils are being forced to save money. However, councils such as that of the Hounslow Borough are proposing to completely scrap Hounslow's Youth Service. This will lead to the end of Hounslow's Youth Council and Hounslow's participation in the UK Youth Parliament but also to the end of many places and functions that keep the youth of today off the rough streets. Awards such as the Duke Of Edinburgh Gold award will be ruled out completely and young people will have no extra curriculm activities to participate in.
