Volusia County Council is planning to look for a consultant to review management of its Beach Concessions that service the public on the beaches. These Concessionaires have been providing service to the public for 40 yrs much is still the same as it was then,good service by good people. Now that our contract is coming to an end in 2008 they open up the possibility that the 90 plus of us small business owners might be put out of business and for what reason we\'re not really sure. They ask these questions 1.Lenght of contract to long.-- A long contract is needed so when we buy new equipment we can get a return on that investment! 2.Maybe one company should run the entire beach.-- Sounds good but the logistics of it don\'t work to many variablies.--Hurricanes,hightides,places to park the concession\'s and have acess to electric and water.Have only 6 or 7 months with a real customer base,bad weather days.Who wants to deal with that.US 3.Should we be allowed to keep our current contracts-- Of course we should,the only way to get one of these concessions is to buy an existing one,pay good money for it and pay fees to the County to operate.
