Save Taplins at the RSH

The Day Nursery at the Royal South Hants offers child care for 47 children whose parents work for the NHS. There are plans to close the nursery on this site by October 2006, guaranteeing each child a place at Trust Taplins at the Western hospital. The issues are these: The new site at the Western is too far across town from the parents whos workbase is at the RSH. Whilst the children have a guaranteed place at the new site the current staff members have no such guarantee and may face some redundances. The move would obviously be distruptive for the childern all of whom are settled at the RSH. Each parent has already received a letter confirming their child/children have a place at the new site - even though the move is supposed to be under consultation. It appears that the move will \"help save money as the RSH nursery needs refurbishment and is not cost effective\" (Quote from Daily Echo 27/06/2006). We are hoping to send the results of this petition to Mark Hackett the Chief Executive at Southampton University Hospital Trust before the end of September. Thank you for your support!
