Save Nuffield Place

Nuffield Place is a wonderful memorial to the memory of Lord Nuffield. He made an extraordinary contribution not only to Oxford but also to the life of the nation. He brought the benefits of motorised transport within the range of the ordinary man in the street, and the range of his medical and educational benefactions was unprecedented and lasting, and continue to be enjoyed by millions to this day. Not least of these was Nuffield College, which he founded and to whom he left Nuffield Place when he died. We greatly regret the decision of the College to sell the home of its founder, but given that the College is for its own good reasons determined to adhere to this decision, we support the Council of Nuffield Place in its attempts to save this historic home by raising funds to purchase the home in its own right.
