Final supporters
The Novi Board of Education has presented their recommendation to accommodate the budget cuts for the 2010 - 2011 school year due to a dramatic decrease (~$6.7M) in state funding. The recommendation includes eliminating the all day Kindergarten classes at all Novi elementary schools (savings of ~$342K). The proposal that was presented last week, April 29, 2010 can be seen in the "LINKS" section of this petition.
The discussion with Mr. Pete Dion, Superintendent will be held at the Educational Services Building, 25345 Taft Road tomorrow at 6:30PM. The room will be posted on the door as it is TBD as of now. This is an informal discussion with Mr. Dion regarding the item of eliminating a traditional full day of Kindergarten for the 2010 - 2011 school year to accomodate required budget reductions. There will be no debate, just an open forum to gather more facts regarding this topic.
As a concerned parent, I would like to collect as many signatures as possible to keep the full day of Kindergarten in Novi at the next Board of Education Meeting, this Thursday May 6, 2010 at 7:00 PM. I would invite you all to attend to show your concern as well.
Please sign the petition below if you would like to keep FULL DAY Kindergarten classes in the Novi Community School District (even if a half day would also be offered).

Half day is impossible for working parents. My son needs consistency and this just makes everything harder.
Too many cuts to schools lately. find the money elsewhere.
Are you kidding me? This is where they cut money? Education should be the last thing on the list to chop.
My daughter is thriving in full day. It would be a huge step back to go to half days.
full day is so much better for their development. dont take this away from our kids!

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. Think about the families that rely on this program for childcare while trying to keep their jobs.
