Duppas Day Nursery provides nursery care to children in Croydon. In its last inspection by OFSTED it was described as outstanding and it is loved by parents and children. Parents were told on Wednesday 21 January 2009 that the nursery, on the site of Duppas Junior School, is to close at the end of July. This outstanding nursery is a huge asset to the borough. It provides an unparalleled service to the children of the biggest employer in the borough, Croydon Council. Its closure would be a tragedy for the 10,500 council employees and their children and be the equivalent of shutting one of the best schools in the borough. We, the undersigned, call on Croydon Council to immediately reverse its decision to close Duppas Day Nursery.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have stepped up to help save Duppas Day Nursery. If we can reach the next milestone before the council meeting, it would show them just how much this service truly matters to our families.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people have joined this fight. It never occurred to me that so many others cared as deeply about this nursery as I do. This momentum belongs entirely to you.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have stepped up to support the nursery. Seeing the count climb toward one hundred is humbling and it shows just how much this place means to us all. If you have a moment today please help us reach more people so our message is impossible for the council to ignore.

Outstanding rating speaks for itself. Why would you get rid of something that works perfectly?

Literally the best nursery around. My little one is so happy here and i have no idea what we will do if they shut the doors in july.

Totally unfair to the staff and the families. Shame on the council for this one.

My kids went here and they absolutely loved it. The staff are incredible and we need this nursery to stay open for the other parents in Croydon.

This is ridiculous. Croydon council should be supporting working parents not taking away their childcare. Keep it open!
