My own children learned to love learning at Derby Street and watching this place disappear feels like losing a piece of our neighborhood. If we hit the 500 mark today we will have the leverage we need to force an emergency meeting with the council. My own kids learned so much at Derby Street and I refuse to let this place vanish because of budget cuts. We are nearing one hundred names and I need you to pass this link to your neighbors right now to push us over the threshold.

My son attended there 8 years ago for help with his speech through the ican scheme. It was a fantastic nursery and we travelled everyday from Middleton. The experience was that good I was considering sending my other child. This would be a great loss :(
I went to Derby St as a kid, as did my Brother and now my two Sons attend. It's been an important place for most of the people on the Summit and surrounding areas for years and still serves a purpose.
The Government want more people in work, yet local Government are cutting the very services that afect the old, the vulnerable and the young, and remove the very services that allow families to go to work.
Is this another knee jerk reaction to funding issues?? And they'll decide in a couple of years that they need to reopen it but by that time all the experienced staff will have moved on. I thought the birth rate had increased, hence the need for more school places, so won't we need more nursery places too??
Save this nursery! The staff are fantastic and have been excellent with my two girls and the staff are friendly and go the extra mile for all the kids. They have always recieved good feedback from ofsted reports,shut down a poor performing nursery and not an outstanding one!
you can't close something that has beenvthere for so long! it helps so many mums especially first time mum's with all the activities, closing this is taking candy from many babies and taking away the freedom of mums who come to Darby street!!
I was hopeing to use the facilitys for my little boy when he was 9 months, he is now 6 months and I don't have the choice to use it now, the other daycares and places are further away from me and I want my little boy somewhere that I can get to him quickly in case of any emergencys, I don't think its fair that it is closing as not only are there many parents out there that are loosing out this oppertunity as well as the ones who have to take there children from what they love and know, I also think its unfair as the staff will be loosing there jobs when in the economy we have now there is no more jobs for them to get, how are they going to earn money to support there familys? not only is this going to rip away oppetunitys for children and parents but it will also rip away peoples funding to support themselfs. Also I have got to know some of the staff there and trust them, I would not wish to send my little boy somewhere I know nothing about and be looked after by someone who I do not know.

to have had no previous consultations with staff or parents about such an important decision seems incomprehensible and is riding roughshod over people's lives. The people who ultimately made this momentous decision to close the daycare in this manner should hang their heads in shame as to how it has been dealt with.
