I honestly cannot believe I am typing this but the city actually pulled back the plans and Boggy Creek is officially staying open for us. It feels like a fever dream even though I know we fought so hard for those fairways and the old clubhouse ghosts definitely owe us …
The topic is Boggy Creek Golf Club. It is a small, raggedy nine hole golf course filled with great people many of whom have served this country in the armed forces. Sadly, the golf course will be closed January 31 after nearly 30 years and it will likely be built into a parking lot, ending the family atmosphere and the social life of many outstanding senior citizens. It is a "Cheers-where everyone knows your name" sort of place to many of us.
We want to appeal to the Navy and The City of Orlando to keep the course open or to give us more time to find a solution to keep it open.
I really never thought I would see 250 names on this thing when I started it in my kitchen. It is just a raggedy course but the people there mean everything and seeing all these signatures makes me think maybe we really can stop the concrete trucks from turning it into a parking lot.

Boggy Creek is way more than just golf. It is a community hub for our vets. Orlando has enough parking lots already!!!

This is so sad. Why take away a place that actually brings people together? Leave it open for the seniors.
