We the undersigned are opposed to the sale of Tucker Park or any portion of it. Please let our Saint John City Council know that our green spaces including Tucker Park are of great value to each of us and our local economy.
Tucker Park is a park for all seasons and all citizens. This beautiful area invites swimmers, joggers, dog walkers, trail walkers, snowshoers, kayakers or those just looking to drop anchor and enjoy the views.
Tucker Park is a Stonehammer UNESCO Global Geopark. The red Devonian age rocks at Tucker Park, part of a distinctive formation in the Saint John area, are about 370 million years old.
Let our council know that selling off Tucker Park as a solution to the city’s debt lacks ingenuity and foresight. Shall we sell off valuable green space every time our city is in debt? Please ensure Tucker Park and our treasured green spaces are here to enjoy for future generations.
Our city parkland is not for sale.

The feedback I have received from you all reinforces that these trails and shorelines hold personal meaning that cannot be measured by a ledger. I am currently preparing a formal case for the council to ensure they understand that our parkland is an essential asset rather than a disposable commodity.

Let's remember the intent of Lt. Col. Joseph Tucker's bequest: "I give, devise and bequeath my farm on Sand Point Road in the city of Saint John, in the province of New Brunswick, for use as a park to be called 'Tucker Park.'"
This historic park has been used by my family for 4 generations and been the locale for countless fond childhood memories. It's loss would be like losing a family member. Once it's gone, all that goes with it, replaced by what? Saint John is my home town.
I moved to saint john instead of rothesay/quispamsis in order to be close to the cities wonderful parks. Selling off parkland would be tragic and will only encourage people like myself to move away from the city. It is not a growth plan.
This land was designated park land for a reason. It is unconscionable for the city to even consider endeavouring to profit from it sale. The city of Saint John has several vacant lots that can be sold and developed instead of sacrificing this priceless resource.
Tucker Park is a gem gifted to the citizens of Saint John by Lieutenant Colonel Joseph John Tucker. There is less than 10% of the original land donated for parkland. Let's preserve and cherish what little is left.
Save our precious park for our young people and future generations.
Selling any of our Parkland would be a great mistake. To destroy an irreplaceable asset for an unknown one-time amount is not the way to manage debt.

My family uses this park every day. Access to the river is one of the reasons I moved here from Ontario to work at the hospital. Selling it off for development is very shortsighted as its value would be lost to future generations.
