We, the residents of Town and Country, are opposed to the city's plan to cut down old-growth trees and pave over green space to build 17 additional parking spaces at a cost of nearly $100,000 in Longview Farm Park.
Although the park was dedicated less than 10 years ago, the city has already reneged on its promises to keep the park passive by building a massive farmhouse addition it plans to use as a commercial banquet center and has already expanded the existing parking lot size at least twice with no halt in sight to the continuing encroachment of the small, 30-acre neighborhood park.
At a public hearing last April, residents were overwhelmingly opposed to building an additional parking lot, yet the city plows ahead with its plans to pave over the park. We oppose the use of taxpayer funds for this development and we will send this petition to the St. Louis County Municipal Park Grant Commission and urge them to deny giving the City of Town and Country any of our funds to continue building on our park land.

I walk through the trees at Longview Farm every morning and it hurts to think the city wants to replace this quiet life with more asphalt. I am currently gathering the paperwork to present our case directly to the grant commission because the city refuses to acknowledge the damage they are doing to our neighborhood.

Seeing this kind of movement confirms that our neighbors truly value the quiet of Longview Farm Park as much as I do. It is clear that we are no longer fighting this battle alone.

We moved here for the parks not for more construction and crowds. Listen to the residents for once.
Enough is enough. My kids play here all the time and we dont need more spots for banquet guests. Seriously disappointed in the city.
THEY ARE RUINING THE PARK. DONT PAVE IT.
100k for parking spots? That is completely insane. Stop destroying our green space for concrete.
This is just a waste of tax money. That land should stay natural like they promised years ago.

The park was fine how it was. Why do we keep adding stuff and paving over everything?? Leave the trees alone.
