Selling any of our Parkland would be a great mistake. To destroy an irreplaceable asset for an unknown one-time amount is not the way to manage debt.

This park was bequeathed to the city to be at the disposal of the citizens in 1916 by Colonel Joseph J. Tucker. I believe that makes it a city property only in-so-far as it is for the benefit of all the citizens. I don't see how it makes it up for grabs to monetize it. :( It's not like this outrage is over a piece of crown land. This land WAS already private property once. It defeats the purpose and the spirit of the bequest in every imaginable way to give it back up for private development.

I am completely against the sale of any portion of Tucker park or Rockwood park for any kind of development. These are both natural pristine green spaces that need to be conserved and protected , NOT developed! Saint John is unique in having such natural lovely oases within walking distance of the city center. In this day of rapid climate change we need to keep all the green areas we have.

Tucker Park was left as a gift in trust to we, the citizens of Saint John, so we could enjoy Nature's beauty. Please Mayor Darling & Council, do not take this greenspace gem that was given to us all, to preserve, untouched for future generations.

Leave it as it is, why destroy something we can enjoy? If they want condos let them build else where, there is lots of other places around Saint John. As a citizen, I protest this and we should have a vote not just between these idiots. If they keep it up Saint John will be a ghost city with nothing.
