I drove taxi on TI and these Beautiful Almond trees provided much warranted shade and cool breeze and a place for us to park in between jobs, also being a taxi rank, locals would know to come and be able to get a taxi from this place near the Historical Trees after a swim, relaxing or fishing nearby ... please Do NOT remove these trees! They are part of the Heart n Soul of TI ...

That particular tree shaded alot of families and memories for example, Magun Warriors stuck a flag post right at the top of the tree back in the early 90's . So this tree has alot of memories, values and also a Land Mark for people to meet, greet and spend alot of family time there. I SAY NO and leave it alone.

I am against moving those almond trees from our water front, esplanade, Ken Brown oval. These trees are a part of our history, they provide shade for our children to play and swim at high tide. Provide shade for families while watching football and a lovely place to sit and look out into the harbour.

Stop cutting down trees, we need to think how to work around these issue. We don't have any trees as it is,there is hardly any coconut trees on the foreshore,no wongai trees anymore no tamarind trees ,mango trees been chopped down, the Island will look more beautiful with trees not a oval.

These trees should be saved for many reasons, not the least being:
Terminalia cattapa is a native tree
It prevents erosion.
Provides wildlife habitat
It has cultural & historical value to TI beachfront
When you approach TI from Port Kennedy side it is a natural landmark & has been for many years.
It provides shade.

I say YES to saving them mekaye trees and that picnic area.
Them trees was there I was born and that was 1970.
Mum was a young lady when she moved from Badu gor por T.I and them trees was always there ,even before my three older siblings were born.
They should heritage list them trees so they can't cut them down.
