TSS T/T Calshot is a tug tender built in 1929 by John I Thornycroft & Co, and completed in 1930 for the Red Funnel Line. Upon the tugboat's completion, she was put into service tendering the various liners that stopped either in the Solent or Southampton Water which saved them the time and expense of docking just to take up or set down a few passengers. She was also used to augment the excursion fleet. Calshot remained in service with Red Funnel from 1930-1964.
appropriated by the Admiralty for use at Scapa Flow. In 1942 she was transferred to the River Clyde where she acted as tender to the two Cunard Line Queens, RMS Queen Elizabeth and RMS Queen Mary, transferring approximately 1,500,000 servicemen.In 1944 she returned to Southampton for the build up to D-Day.

I work on the SS Nomadic a similar tender (also Titanics tender) so with the TT Calshots history and especially her war service, so relevant at the moment of course, it's very important that she be saved. We owe her that!
Please save this historic ship - a DDay veteran. For a nation of mariners and the best shipbuilders providing ships all over the world we have lost too many examples of our once world leading craft from the last century.
This vessel is a historic and worthy of funding to get it to a point where it can help fund itself similar to the Shieldhall. Not every project needs to be profit based. SCC has completely lost its ideals and grasp on what Southampton heritage is.
I am Australian but have now lived in the city for 30 years, after joining this heritage group I realised how Southampton was and it’s history is seafaring! So much has been lost, she needs to be saved to remind people of the past, it would be great to have her to show all the cruise visitors, not just the shops!
My father, Tom Dargie was a skipper on the Red Funnel tugs. He was involved in the restoration project when she came back to Southampton. I know he was skipper on the new Cashot, a fire tug based at Fawley. Wish I could ask him for his memories!
So important for us to keep hold of our maritime history.
A historical beauty deserving of being preserved.

I came to know the Caslhot in the 80s in Galway when she served as a ferry for the Aran Islands, named Galway Bay. A beautifull ship! and the I visited some years later in Southampton and had a look at all the work the trust did... SAVE THIS SHIP! It is the last of its kind, it is history!
