Nothing adds value to a home like beautiful landscaping. Park Vista residents have been fortunate to have a dedicated, talented Landscape Committee, led by Sandy Comrie. This Committee has spearheaded the efforts to renovate the property landscape from dead, dying and dated to modern and water-wise.

So why did the Park Vista Board of Directors, in a closed Executive meeting on March 24th, decide to disband the Landscape Committee, without any homeowner discussion or input? Why would the Committee be eliminated after homeowners expressed their enthusiastic support of the landscaping efforts at the recent 2017 Annual Homeowner Meeting?

This petition is being circulated to demonstrate support for the Landscape Committee because:

  1. In the 2017 Park Vista Landscape Survey, an overwhelming majority of respondents indicated they liked the current landscaping and efforts to become more water-efficient.
  2. The Landscape Committee provides valuable insight and expertise to homeowners who are requesting or planning landscape projects around their units.
  3. The Landscape Committee provides efficient, collaborative direction to a multitude of vendors such as the landscaping crew and tree trimmers.
  4. The Landscape Committee provides a critical link tot he Mission Hills Country Club on club projects that impact Park Vista.

Please sign this petition by April 5th and let the Board know you want this valuable Committee to continue to serve our Association.

Any action related to the Landscape Committee is not a proper topic for Executive Session. The Code identifies six specific items, and whether to create or abolish a standing committee like the Landscape Committee is not one of those topics.

We also chose to purchase in Phase V because of the landscaping and proposed new paint colors. The Committee members put in a lot of unpaid time to make sure the property looks great.

I am shocked that the Board would disband the landscape committee. We are the original owners of our home and never has the landscaping looked better. This seems short sighted and ill advised. I would be interested to know which Board members took this action as I will not support them in the future.

I find the whole situation rather unnerving. Who sets up a closed, unannounced meeting...? This sounds at best illegal. We support wholeheartedly the current committee and the great work that the current committee has done l ed by Ms. Comrie. Dr. Anne Kelly Stephen Lore 526 Desert West Dr.

I don't understand why the board would want to disband the landscape committee which is comprised of homeowners who want to improve the phase. My mother in law lives full time in the phase and the beauty of the property is important to her, as it is me. I've noticed a meaningful improvement in recent years. Please bring back this committee. Thanks.

Hi Promans, I understand that only three of them were present in the Executive Session, which is confidential, so we probably will never get the full story. Exec Session, I recall, is for things like delinquencies, contracts, and other sensitive issues that should not be shared broadly with all homeowners--not about a the existence of a popular Committee that does a lot of work. The Board members put themselves in this position where now we are all wondering what they were thinking, and they can't tell us without violating the confidentiality of the Exec Session. If any Board Member tells you about it, you should ask them to resign, right?
