Subject: Request for Committee Formation and Further Studies on the Tree Removal Project

Dear Board Members,

As homeowners in The Lakes, we would like to thank you for your efforts in addressing the long-standing challenges created by the mahogany trees in our community. We understand the Board has approved the removal of 293 trees, while budget estimates and impact studies are still being developed.

After attending the recent meeting, it became evident that many residents share concerns regarding this project. A significant number of homeowners expressed disagreement with the plan, and several offered alternative ideas that could help address the problem in different ways.

We would like to respectfully highlight a few key points:

1. Environmental Impact – To our knowledge, no environmental impact study has been conducted to assess the consequences of removing nearly 300 mature trees, including the effect on shade, temperature, air quality, and wildlife.

2. Property Value Impact – Likewise, no study has been presented regarding the potential effect this large-scale tree removal could have on the beauty of our community and, by extension, on property values.

3. Community Input and Alternatives – Many homeowners have expressed interest in exploring alternative solutions that may be less drastic and more cost-effective. We believe these ideas deserve serious consideration before irreversible decisions are carried out.

For these reasons, we respectfully request that the Board:

- Form a dedicated committee for this project, including a broad representation of homeowners. Ideally, this committee should also include individuals with relevant professional experience (e.g., environmental science, landscaping, engineering, finance).
- Pause final execution of the project until additional studies are conducted, including environmental impact and property value assessments.

- Commit to greater homeowner involvement, ensuring that community voices are heard and that alternative solutions are thoroughly evaluated.

We believe that by working collaboratively, we can find the best outcome for our community — one that balances safety, finances, environmental responsibility, and property value preservation.

Sincerely,
Concerned Homeowners of The Lakes

I am writing to express my disagreement with the proposed assessment for tree removal and sidewalk repair. I believe this proposal will have a negative impact on property valúes and the aesthetic appeal of our neighborhood. Instead, I suggest considering alternative solutions such a root barries, which are more cost-effective and efective way to prevent sidewalk damage. I urge the HOA to explore these óptions before making final decision.Thank for your time and attention to this matter. 117 Cameron Dr.

Completely disagree with the HOA. Need to show more information and costs before anything gets done!
