The charm of our community is, in large part, our old growth trees - they make us the "City of Oaks." If we allow these 100+ year trees to be cut down, our children won't see replacements it in their lifetimes. These trees are more than just beautiful: they are good for our environment and add to the appeal and value of our neighborhood. With the influx of new construction, developers are rapidly cutting down these trees. Act now to request that the huge tree at 1526 Greenwood be preserved for us, our children, our neighborhood, and our planet.

I walked by the Greenwood property this morning and saw the orange markers still wrapped tight around the trunks. It feels personal every time I look at those giants because these trees were here long before we arrived and they deserve a future that includes us.

Seeing this kind of energy for the trees at Greenwood brings me to tears because I know exactly how much they shape our street. This momentum shows that our neighborhood is truly unwilling to watch our history get cleared away by developers.

In addition, we need trees to breathe. These petitions should be circulating throughout the triangle region as trees are being clear cut and felled at an alarming rate. Let this 1526 Greenwood tree survive to stand as a symbol and inspiration to protect all the other trees still standing. We're all in this together (and that includes the trees).

My grandparents lived in 1526 Glenwood and I played on and under that tree. Mature trees give shade and put oxygen in air. They also remove CO2 and put O2 back in air. Five Points and surrounding area is known for its wonderful tree canopy.

It is easy to cut trees down to build. It takes real ingenuity and innovation to integrate builds into an existing environment.

You are indeed right and it looks perfectly healthy.. Unless you get it certified by an arborist as an historical speciman I doubt this petition will be successful as I tried on the lot next to us that was clear cut a few years ago. VERY sad so I truly hope you are successful.

Please save this tree! It cannot be replaced. It cleans the air and provides shade and a home for living creatures. The value of any house you are building will only be enhanced by this wonderful tree.

Raleigh is the City of Oaks. The charm of downtown is it's history, it's tree cover and the commitment developers have made to preserving our history. New developments surround Raleigh where trees are cut down and young ones are planted. These neighborhoods lack the charm of historical Raleigh. Please preserve this beautiful tree and the character of our neighborhood.

My family chose to live in the 5 points neighborhood for the trees. The trees create a beautiful canopy to walk under with the chirping of birds and a haven for wildlife. Living things (including humans) thrive with ample amounts of trees. Savesoil.org #savesoil

An abundance of trees makes Raleigh/NC unique and a treasure to live and visit. The trees provide shade, oxygen, homes for wildlife, and soil enrichment. Trees are a treasure and we need an abundance of them for human survival. #savesoil
