Help us sign this petition so we can approach Southwark Council Early Years Funding so they can review their policy about continuing to pay the funding for those children already attending the nursery. This is for the 2 year old grant, the 3 and 4 year old grants also. after the nursery our children attend were unjustifiably failed by Ofsted.

About 50 children will be effected if they carry out their plan to stop funding in April.

We are parents whose children attend a small nursery called Excel Child Care Services in Forest Hill South London.

Our nursery had an Ofsted Inspection in November 2017 and had the most awful inspector who was biased and who did such a shoddy job. She gave the nursery a "requires improvement' result. The owners challenged this with Ofsted, and they won the appeal in full, with the proviso that they would have another inspection in the new year.

February 2018, 2 inspectors showed up and by mid-morning, they had already failed the nursery even worse than 4 weeks earlier - don't forget we also had Christmas in between so how could a nursery go from being a "Good" nursery to a total fail in less than 4 weeks?

Now with the fail - the Local Authority - Southwark Early Years have whipped away all their funding for the children’s places, and we have nowhere to take our children as we cannot afford to attend our lovely nursery without the funding that our children are due. Our children are really happy and well cared for where they are, we are so pleased to have a loving, caring nursery for our children. The staff work so hard and our children are happy to come to nursery each day.

Some of our children have been at the nursery since they were babies and many of them are now in school and they loved being at the nursery. They are loved and cared for really well at Excel.

Why should one rogue Ofsted inspector be so powerful when they have an axe to grind. Who challenges them or oversees their inspection? No one. They are simply believed by the Managers.

They are not open or truthful when they come into a nursery yet they are so powerful they could victimise and terrorise any nursery they feel like and fail it at random with cooked up reasons which cannot be challenged.

Help us sign this petition so we can approach Southwark Council Early Years Funding to continue to pay the funding for those children already attending the nursery. This is for the 2year old grant, the 3 and 4year old grants also. #savefundingexcel.

Thank you so much.

Updates

March 1, 2018

I have drafted a formal request for a meeting with the Southwark Council Early Years department to discuss the timeline of the funding withdrawal. We are currently compiling testimony from affected families to present as evidence during that discussion.

The scale of this response confirms we have enough leverage to request an urgent meeting with the Southwark Council Early Years department. I am submitting our formal request for a policy review tomorrow morning and will report back on their timeline for a response.

children attending nursery become attached to their caregivers emotionally. Especially if they attend many hours a week and have friends and community links. Has this been thoroughly taken into account. in this decision

It’s insane that you would remove funding from such a desperately needed service based on a biased opinion. Surely all of the parents should be interviewed as well prior to taking this drastic step!

Excel has such a unique and loving atmosphere and the children in the pre school room are so happy and friendly. It took me 3 months to find a place in an ofsted registered setting for my son so there is an obvious shortage in the area. Something has gone badly wrong that these children are now being denied the care and love they receive at Excel. Save the Funding.

This really disappointing to hear that this funding could stop based on an ofsted inspection. As a mother of twins I depend on this funding to have my girls in nursery. I pay my taxes and I work full time. This is really upsetting and I can't u Imagine how mum's are feeling about this

My son went here until he started school. He absolutely loved it and the staff were exceptional and so caring. Stopping funding in April gives parents no time to organise alternative care and Excel should be given the opportunity and time to respond whilst being funded.

The nursery is so good, I have worked here 5 years. Think about all the staff and the children who will be lost without Excel! Don't stop the funding and put us out of a job and the children without a nursery!
