I have taught Special Needs, Extended Education and student's with a physical and sensory impairment. I have also set up an Adult Education within a Social Services centre.
Over the past five years I have, on several occasions, visited Excel Child Care Services in Forest Hill, South London where both of my grandchildren have and are attending. My granddaughter who is still at the named nursery has always found it difficult to adjust to new surroundings and people. She and other children like her have settled easily into Excel Child Care Services and, with the help of the staff, have found it a safe and happy place to expand their preschool learning ability.
From my very first visit to this nursery I have always been very impressed by the standards of early learning that Excel Child Care Services practice, and the dedication and care of the staff encouraging the children to learn.
It is vitally important that children of a very young age, as it is through all their learning years, that consistency in their learning environment is maintained.
If Excel Child Care Services lose their funding it will not only cause hardship to those parent's on low income as they will not be able to cover the extra cost, but it will also mean that a lot of children will have to be removed from an environment where they have grown to feel safe and happy in, with people they trust and who have known them since babies. People who are now preparing some of these children for the start of their school life. For some children this can be a very traumatic transgression. The disruption within their early learning years could certainly hold back on their learning abilities later.

Southwark Council's decision to cancel the 15/30 hrs grant is quite simply irresponsible and overreaching.

My little niece attends this nursery. Work together to keep it open, sad day when these centres get closed over politics and red tape.

Ofsted this is such an unjust decision. Please keep funding the children already at the nursery as they otherwise will suffer tremendously. Not to mention the stress, financial difficulties and job losses this will cause parents and staff. Clearly the children and parents are happy with the nursery and anything that needs improving on can be worked on together. Removing the funding will force Excel to close and that doesn't benefit anyone nor does it give the nursery a fair chance to dispute the result of the report. Save the funding!

My daughter is very happy at the nursery. Their carers are friendly and helpful. My oldest daughter started attending excel child care when she was 10months up until she was 4years and then went to Primary school.
Please save our nursery we love it.

My niece and nephew have attended this nursery since the age of 1, and the staff here have been amazing. This nursery must be kept open.
