Such a special building requires special handling. There must be another way. What is wrong with upgrading the current disabled entrance? Also I hear that there may be modern sliding doors. Surely not! And also not allowed under conservation law.

Why are so many people against preserving old buildings and why do the chosen few get away with it. People have happily managed to enter the hall for the past 40 years via the SHELTERED disabled entrance at the rear of the hall

I'm disabled and am happy to use a different access to the building. You have to use special slate, wooden sash windows etc in private houses in Penzance conservation area, but it's OK to completely change the front of this building?

I was born and grew up in Penzance and although I no longer live there I am appalled at what is being done to the façade of St. John's Hall. This iconic building is being ruined by people who have given no thought to the history of the building.

All for disabled access but not at the expense of an iconic building. Would it have been beyond the wit of Cornwall council to put the ramped access at the side or rear of the building ? Job done without ruining a beautiful building

i fully understand that the hall needed to be modernised . But this is an iconic building and efforts should have been made to keeps its original facade .it make far more sence to enter/exit at the rear of the building where the main car park is .

It is a beautiful building, to change it would be sacrilege, it is history.
