Final supporters
We, the undersigned parents, taxpayers and employees of the Somers School District, implore Dr. Blanch and our Board of Education to examine all possibilities and find other areas where cost-cutting can be achieved to bridge our projected 2016-17 budget gap. We understand the difficulties facing our leadership but the Director of Guidance position is much too important to us, to our children and to the future of Somers education. We feel that there are other positions and programs that can be consolidated or eliminated that will help to bridge our budget shortfall. We cannot accept any plan that includes the Director of Guidance position being eliminated, we must, collectively, strive for a better alternative.

Seeing the momentum grow this week has honestly left me stunned because I never imagined so many people felt this strongly about our students. This energy belongs to all of you who spoke up for our Guidance department. Please keep finding ways to get this message out to others.

Proposing to fire Dr. Hardy while paying a man $80,000 to coach football in Somers NY is an outrageous misallocation of money and priority. NY State has nothing to do with terribly ordered priorities.
I had 5 children go through the school system. There was more than one occasion where Deborah Hardy had to step in and clear things up. This is a much needed position. It's in the schools and students best interest to keep it.
I have a 10th grader at SHS and a 3rd grader at SIS and feel the cutting of the DOG would be detrimental to the all students presently at SHS and all future SHS students. Please do not eliminate this position.
With two teens in high school, one going through the college process right now, I cannot stress how immensely helpful Dr. Hardy has been to our family. I would hate for my other high schooler's college search experience to be a thing less than her sibling.
Think of our children and do not take away this position. We should improve the ranking of our schools and this action will not be productive. We want to draw families to Somers, not away! I have one more child on the school district…my 4th…I know how important this is! Keep the money where it counts!
This is not the position that should be eliminated! Very important for the students.
Dr. Hardy's passion and commitment to the success of our children should not go unnoticed. She is remarkable in her position, and her experience is exceptional and truly valuable!

Dr. Hardy is a necessity for our children and parents. If it wasn't for Dr. Hardy's advice and knowledge, I would have had to leave the school system to get the appropriate resources. We need to keep our assets and cut the non assets. Wouldn't that make sense?
