The council has officially reversed their decision to cut the coaching staff at Hull Ice Arena. We managed to secure the future of these professionals and the continuity of the sport for our skaters. Please remain vigilant as we monitor the implementation of this new agreement.

the council has decided to take away a number off coaches from hull ice arena as from the 1st July,
A lot off the skaters have spent time and money investing in there chosen sport or like my daughter a career,
The coaches that will lose their jobs will also lose their careers , hull arena will go the same way as Grimsby as a lot will no longer use the rink,

The council has yet to provide a formal response regarding the reduction of coaching staff at the arena. I am currently preparing a detailed report to present our concerns directly to the officials involved in this decision.

City of Culture, you are having a laugh! More cuts at the Ice Arena, a gem of a resource under funded by the council for years . My daughter has coaching there & loves it, spend some of the 'culture' funds on this excellent community centre!
My 9 year old granddaughter is heartbroken to learn her coach (Vicky Wilson) who she has been with since the age of 3 is one of those to be cut. It certainly looks as though the City of Culture is running the Ice Arena down with a view to closing it.
Two of my granddaughters skate at this rink and have already had one excellent coach taken away from them so can someone please tell me what they are supposed to do now. One granddaughter is supposed to be taking tests soon and how can she with no coach.
I skated at the rink for a number of years and it upsets me to see it go so down hill, getting rid of coaches will only make things worse! Ice skating is everything for these girls and boys, they're not just losing teachers they're losing friends too.
It's awful the way these coaches have been treated but it's the same every few years. Adrian and some of the other coaches have worked at that rink for years and to have their jobs cruely ripped from them is awful for both coach and pupils
short sighted HCC have left the ice arena devoid of spirit and talent. Huge losses in training skills will eventually run the rink to second rate venue
All the ice hockey teams are suffering because of the lack of interest in the arena from Hull CC. It's sad for the kids, they deserve better.

The council should be trying to get more skaters into the rink, not driving them away by no longer allowing their coach to teach. Absolutely baffled as to how Hull Arena and the council think that this is promoting grass roots and excellence in the sport.
