We should be preserving out heritage for future generations and not demolishing them. Such a shame it never had a listing put on it. Grew up in Lockwood, house on Bland Street from 1958, Mount Pleasant was my first school, used the clock everyday, never needed a watch. It’s disgraceful and simply shouldn’t happen.

Buildings such as this should be preserved, if this building was privately owned Kirklees planning wouldn't let you alter it never mind demolish it.

Huddersfield completely ruined so much of its Victorian heritage in the 60’s and this should not go the same way. It is iconic to the whole of that region of Huddersfield as Victoria Memorial Tower.

This tower is a part of my history with growing up in the Lockwood area of Huddersfield. The Mount Pleasant School was an important part of my life. Please keep our memories alive

The council should stop this immediately and explain why they have gone against the agreement in such an underhand way. The tower should be kept as agreed.

I have been to mount pleasant school and it is a shame if this has to go down it is a landmark of Lockwood. And also is educational for the children at mount pleasant to see the clock and learn the time when they are outdoors.

The clock tower should remain to just remind the new generation how the old school used to be like!
