The lovely village Church in Eldwick is under immediate threat of demolition. We have very limited time to save the Church building and our heritage. By extending the building at the back, the village would keep a part of its heritage which cannot be replaced, providing a cost effective increase in space and amenities. How can people propose to DEMOLISH the Church to create 8 more car parking spaces? STOP THIS NOW!

The demolition plan is being pushed forward by a tiny minority of church goers, many of whom do not live in the village. The feelings of the wider village are being taken into no consideration and yet there are many upset residents. A congregation of 60 is making a decision that affects over 4,000 villagers and the church has asked for proof that people care. We'd like to get signatures to show our support for extending, not demolishing, our village church and make our feelings impossible to ignore.

WE HAVE VERY LITTLE TIME - the final decision will be made in March so sign the petition today!

I honestly never imagined we would gain this much momentum so quickly because looking at the plans for extra parking spaces just made me so incredibly frustrated. It is wild to think about how much noise we are actually making now and I really think they are starting to feel the pressure from all of us who want to keep our history alive instead of paving it over for cars.

I feel I may comment on this issue,in that I was a warden at the church for many years, and a regular worshiper there, my daughters all were married there, so it has a lot of deep memories for me.

Why should just the congregation have a vote? Isn't the church a key part of the village and its community. The term "village hangers on" is really insulting to the 100s of us who live in the village but aren't members of the church. Not a very Christian attitude is it?!

I grew up in Eldwick, went to the old eldwick first school, my mum still lives there and my two best friends both were married in that church, would be such a shame to see it gone and for what car parking space!!!!!!!!

As someone whose worked with heritage buildings I know how hard it is to make them fit for purpose. There are some fabulous examples of church buildings that have been adapted sensitively and conserved for future generations.

The Methodist Chapel was not demolished but was sympathetically recycled as was the school so why demolish St Lawrence's church. An extension to the back of the church is definately the only option.

It would be helpful if the Eldwick Church Trustees and the NEW building project team, would release all drawings and costings to enable further discussion, and to show the extension scheme has been wrongly overvalyed.

I find it staggering that anyone in their right mind would want to demolish a perfectly good piece of built heritage which is evidently of great importance to local residents, the people who's authority it should rest with.

It is a shame that one of the oldest buildings in the village is under threat of demolition - if it goes, the all the history is lost and will never be receoved. I strongly object to the proposal
