I have submitted a formal request for a meeting with the city council to present the current signatures as documentation of public opposition to the disbandment proposal. Our legal consultant is currently drafting a memorandum to address the budgetary trade-offs mentioned in the council report.

Eliminating services (contracting out services) for a small community is a slippery slope (start with police department, what's next ?). The Cascade Police Department should remain in place .
My wife and I are a seasonal residents of Cascade. The rest of the year we live in a town of 5000 people in New Mexico. This town does not have a police force. Instead they contract with the sheriff to supply one deputy, 40 hours per week. It costs the town $130,000 for this. It is not effective. If Cascade thinks they can save money by contracting with the sheriff, it is not realistic. Keep the city police force and look for other ways to save money within the department.
We hunt, fish , shop and camp in and around Cascade, and it is very important to us, that there is evidence of a police department, to be there for us, at moments notice to protect, and help us, in any situation. We have used them in an emergency, and were so grateful for their kindness and professional courtesy to our family. Please do not disband the City Police.
The Cascade police department has helped with many situations in my house, I don't know what would have happened if they weren't there to help and keep me and others safe.
We visit Cascade in the winter several times and for us it's very reassuring having local Cascade law enforcement visible, helping and close if an emergency arises. Understand when it comes to budgets but first responders police and fire should always come first for the community.
Please leave cascade Police department they benefit everyone that lives in cascade and the Donnelly aera . They need to stay and with out them cascade and Donnelly would got to hell and the violence would start . No police means lots of trouble... Police department needs to stay

I'm very concerned bout the response tike and the available coverage of the city and valley county itself with under staffed sheriff's depeartment.
