The Black Bull is staying open. My hands are still shaking from the news but we achieved what felt impossible when we started this fight.

Stop enterprise from closing the black bull doors after over 200 years as a local pub. Tell them not to call time once and for all. Keep our pub open.

One hundred people have signed on to keep the Black Bull open. My hands are shaking a bit looking at this list because I honestly did not think this many people still cared about this place.

This historic building goes back to 1773 and is one of the oldest pubs in our area. (Please see 'Ardsley and Stairfoot Revisited' by Tony Heald and Michael Chance) page 81. The Black Bull should remain a Traditional public house and serve its community in its own special way.

This is a shame if it happens, Ardsley and Stairfoot only have four pubs as it is..and The Black Bull is always the place to have a great night. A place that bring people and the community together.. Dont let another good pub go :(

If they close this down, it will probably be pulled down like all our nice old pubs in that area. Cross Keys went, then the Coach and Horses. There will no history left!!

I lived in Barnsley for 7 years, moved out 2009 but every year on my birthday make the 2 hour commute to have a drink in my favourite Barnsley pub which is what I will be doing on March the 11th and hopefully will continue to do for many years to come!

It would break my heart to see the pub closed down, I currently work here and it's the best environment and workplace I have ever worked in. I have made fantastic friends and have so many memories in the Black Bull. It's my second home and there's nothing worse than thinking it could all be over. Yours sincerely, Kelsey :(

Been visiting the pub for years since I was a child of 6 years old. Now at 18, I would like to be able to show my own family (to be) where I had spent so much of my time and created so many memories with my members of family. Would be a shame to see the black bull go.

The council don't give a rat's arse. Hardly surprising, they're all as thick as two short planks. Heritage? Most of them probably can't even spell, it, let alone appreciate it. So long as people keep voting for them though, nothing will change. Half the local electorate don't even bother to turn up come local election time and the ones that do generally vote Labour even if they oppose everything the local Labour party stands for, because it's a tribal thing. Hence we end up with the same bunch of self-perpetuating numpties running the council year after year and decade after decade. Not happy with the decisions they are taking? Then for God's sake turn up and vote them out.

It’s time to start saving Barnsley’s history and stop destroying it.
