**Please do not donate, this is a petition only** Stowaway and the remaining tenants of Union Market at The District have received notice that we will all be evicted by or master landlord who's attorney has claimed "they are no happier about the way Union Market handled this situation". We have reached out to the master landlord, Vestar / Kimco, and have reached a dead end. We have attempted to lease the entire space and we also have friends in the industry that would like to lease out some of the open spaces, but have been blocked from all potential avenues to save the space.
Dominca (a new empanada concept) was set to open soon along with our remaining tenant friends Leaf N Cream, Braga Bakery, OC Hit Factory, MJ Hair Salon, Berry Brand, and Black Steel Barber have invested our collective blood, sweat, tears, and hard earned capital to open and operate our businesses - some of us putting in entire savings. We managed to survive an international pandemic, just to have our businesses face closure due to Vestar / Kimco's unwillingness to work with us to come to an amicable agreement.

Stowaway is the only reason I go down to that area and give business to the other businesses there. I travel 1 hour each time just to go to that place and have celebrated many friends birthdays there and continue to do so. Keep this place open!!!
Keep stowaway & the other small business going. Its a small sliver of local community based entrepreneurs surrounded by huge commercial operations, it’s important for the community to see themselves reflected in their spaces.
small businesses have endured enough through lockdowns and restrictions due to the pandemic. The landlord needs to be working with the existing tenants who are engaged in making this space and their businesses successful and profitable.
I love the tiki drinks at Stowaway and the bowls at Berry Brand. Sebastian at Black Steel is my husband's barber. Union Market is part of our lives and routines when we head over to AMC for a movie. Please don't shut down Union Market due to other people's mismanagement!
It is the LANDLORD’S accountability who messed up the union market and must address the issue. It’s extremely unfair for the tenants who have got good records to pay their rental. We strongly support Leaf N Cream to stay still.

This is the only operating merchant in the union market that has stood the test of time. There is no reason not to negotiate a new lease with this operator when they are willing to stay and the business is always filled with customers.
