I just received word that the city found a way to keep Sportspark open and running. I honestly never thought we could pull this off but you proved me wrong by showing up for this place. Please keep keeping an eye on the site to ensure things move forward as …

SAVE SPORTSPARK FROM CLOSING WHEN THE STEAM PLANT SHUTS DOWN!!!

8/31/13 from the Main Street Wire

"Last week's Real Estate Committee meeting also provided the expected confirmation that the Steam Plant, which supplies energy for Sportspark, Coler, and Goldwater, will be decommissioned by the City Health and Hospitals Corporation at some future time, as yet undetermined. Goldwater demolition won't start until 2014, so Sportspark classes are safe until then. But, unless or until RIOC can come up with a replacement energy source, Sportspark will have to be closed. (The north campus of Coler-Goldwater will get a long-planned on-site power plant of its own.)"

RIOC, PLEASE COME UP WITH A REPLACEMENT ENERGY SOURCE!!!

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you care about Sportspark. Watching the signature count approach one hundred is incredible because this is really your effort and not mine. If we can cross that mark, it will be so much harder for them to ignore us.

My son loves his swim lessons here. It would be a huge shame to see it shut down over some bureaucracy. Just build the plant!

Are you kidding me?? We use the gym every single morning. Close it and there is literally nowhere else to go on the island. Fix it!!!

Really hope this gets resolved soon. Sportspark is the heart of the island for so many of us.

This place is the only reason my kids get out of the house. RIOC needs to get their act together and fix the power situation. We need this pool open.

Ridiculous to even consider closing it. People pay good money to live here and use these facilities. Do your jobs RIOC.
