What we can do, is to let Sjømannskirken's HQ in Bergen know how important it is to physically have a church building for us Norwegians in Australia. Somewhere to feel at home, being greeted in Norwegian with a warm hug, somewhere to meet fellow country men and women, speak Norwegian, have some porridge and waffles, celebrate 17th of May, walk around the Xmas tree and the list goes on, and on, and on... I have visited this lovely church several times for various events. I was always made welcome and 'at home' even though I have no Norwegian background. For me, it was a bit of authentic Norwegian culture. It will be sorely missed.
my husband and I celebrated our wedding at the church. And now we take our two boys often. Please don't let them miss out on their Norwegian culture and heritage. I beg you to please not sell the church.
Som student i Sydney er Sjømannskirken ett verdifullt samlingssted for oss som er langt hjemmefra. Lenger fra Norge man man nesten ikke komme. Det å Kunne ha ett slikt samlingssted er utrolig viktig. Ikke ta hjemmet i utlandet bort fra oss.
Sjømannskjerka har vært veldig viktig for meg og min partner så vi får truffet andre nordmenn, kjøpt litt norsk mat av og til og har en plass å samles. Siden han er australsk er det ikke mange andre plasser vi kan få sett litt norsk kultur. Blir en lei dag hvis vi ikke har den muligheten lengre..
Har bodd i Sydney i 13 år, og kan ikke sette ord på hvor viktig Sjømannskirka er for meg og mine! Norsk kultur og tradisjon er vanskelig å gi til barna mine på egen hånd! Vær så snill å opprettholde ei kirke i Sydney

sjømannskirken i Sydney er alt for reisende, godt å komme til, få grøt på lørdager og feire høytider... jul i kirken var en perfekt feiring i det store utland... bare det å komme til en plass hvor det snakkes norsk og du kan få kjøpt vafler, fiskeboller og makrell i tomat :-) Ikkje selg kirken...
