The developers finally backed down and the sports complex plans are officially dead. We beat these corporate suits at their own game because we refused to let them bulldoze our home. Stay alert because we need to make sure they do not try to sneak this project back onto the …

I believe in the preservation of the historic rural nature of the Glenrose Community recognizing the benefits to the environment and to those that live in and enjoy the use of the area. Therefore, I support the position of The Glenrose Association in opposition to the construction of the proposed sports complex within the Glenrose Community.

The momentum we have built makes it clear that the developers cannot simply pave over our history. The people in charge of this sports complex project finally have to acknowledge that Glenrose is not just a plot of empty land for their profit.

We do not need this sports complex in our community, and certainly not as envisioned with stadium lighting, turf, and the anticipated traffic. Glenrose is still charming and places our city in its agricultural history. To lose the open space would be a loss.

The sports complex does not fit the county code description for a community-oriented center. In addition, streets are barely adequate for the current traffic load---100s more vehicles every day of practices and games is more than the few roads can accommodate safely.

Soccer center would be great there for me to watch my grandkids but I don’t have the right to destroy a rural area for my selfish needs Why don’t they put it on Regal near the soccer center no one lives nearby so lights won’t bother anyone

There are plenty of places in downtown Spokane to build a sports complex, and the infrastructure is already in place to handle the increased traffic. Don't destroy the peace and tranquility of rural Glenrose for some developer's greed.

I ask you to think of this? How would you feel if a sports complex with porta potties, 385 parking spots and stadium lighting were to be built across the street from your home or down the street with tournaments and games on a weekly basis?

Traffic conditions will only get more congested on rural roads, and speeding will become life-threatening with this proposed complex. Glenrose is not the place for a regional, year-round sports facility with a 400-car parking lot.

The last thing theSpokane area needs is another sports complex. The Glenrose area has already been overdeveloped with tight housing in gated communities, and the building and destruction of habitat must abruptly stop if we are to preserve it. I happily add my name to this petition, and encourage others to do the same. Spokane must be developed in a way that represents it’s motto of Near Nature, Near Perfect.

There is already too much traffic on our roads.
