There are two wonderful children�s playgrounds (under 10 years and over 10 years) situated near the Leichlingen Pavilion in Henley which are very well used throughout the year, but which also require some minor but important improvements: 1. Addition of self closers and latches to the gate of the younger children�s play area to prevent children easily exiting the play area and running towards the dangers of the car park/road or the river. 2. Planting of trees within the younger children�s play area to provide much needed shade. 3. Repair and maintenance of some items of play equipment in the older children�s play area, such as the zip wire and the chain link tight rope. I feel that the issue of latches on the gates is of the greatest importance: a representative of the Town Council has already told me that the gates cannot have latches due to Health and Safety guidelines. However I have since found advice and guidelines from safety organisations (including the HSE and ROSPA) which contradict this statement and I am writing to the Council on this matter in more detail.
