The current council administration, recently having reviewed the Primary School Estate, have proposed that Gartconner Primary should merge with Harestanes, Hillhead and Oxgang Primaries on either the current Oxgang/St Flannan's site. In addition to this they also need to account for nursery provision of at least 90 kids and a unit for Merkland, which could also be attached to the school.
No thought has been given for the traffic congestion around these sites, no educational benefits for the move have been given and a school roll of 651 (excluding nursery) is not appropriate for a primary.
Please help to save Oxgang Primary and St Flannan's by signing this petition to show the council we are not happy with these proposals.
The council has yet to provide a clear justification for the merger despite my repeated requests for information regarding traffic and facility usage. I am currently gathering detailed evidence on local school roll capacities to present a formal rebuttal during the upcoming review process.

The momentum behind this effort has grown beyond expectations. This level of engagement serves as a clear indication that the community rejects these proposed mergers.

The traffic around that area is already a complete nightmare at drop off time. Adding hundreds more kids is just asking for a serious accident to happen.

Ridiculous idea. Keep our children in their own communities.
