Schools and Communities in North Ayrshire are facing a major change under North Ayrshire Council\'s propoals to close and amalgamate primary schools in the area. Under these proposals children will be torn apart from friends and community links/bonds will be destroyed. Even if your school is not directly involved, you could be on the list next year. Everyone in North Ayrshire should be concerned about the issues below as they will fundamentally change parts of our local communities. North Ayrshire Council recommends: -- Close TOWERLANDS Primary School; amalgamate with Broomlands PS and Fencedyke PS. (IRVINE) -- Close JOHN GALT Primary School; amalgamate with Castlepark PS and Woodlands PS. (IRVINE) -- Close DREGHORN and SPRINSIDE Primary schools; amalgamate into a new school, yet to be built using the money from selling off school sites.(IRVINE) -- Close CORRIE Primary school; amalgamate with Brodick PS. (ARRAN) -- Redrawing of catchment areas for ST LUKES and ST WINNINGS Primary schools; future closure could be a possibility for one of these schools. (KILWINNING) -- The Construction of a new school at Mongomerie Park, Irvine; this will have a knock-on effect on surrounding schools, possibly facing closure in the future. (IRVINE) The first of these schools will close in June 2008 with children starting their new schools in August 2008. Support this cause by signing your name to telling North Ayrshire Council to leave not just our schools alone, but the communities that have been built around those schools over the past 30 years or more. Only the voice of the people will stop these proposals becoming a reality!

The days are long and the council remains stubborn but your signatures are starting to add up. I am tired of fighting this alone so please send this link to a few neighbors who might not have seen it yet. We need those final names to show them we are not just going to watch these schools disappear.

My kids go to John Galt and the thought of them moving is stressful. Stop messing with our kids education for money.

Totally unfair on the kids on Arran. They have enough to deal with without losing their local school too.
