The developers finally backed down and SW9 Bar is staying right where it belongs. These greedy vultures thought they could steamroll us but they clearly underestimated this community. Keep your eyes open because we proved today that we are not going anywhere.

SW9 Bar has been part of the Brixton community for over 20 years, and as helped shape the local area. It's been influential in helping with local community projects and events too. Now a private hotel development has threatened to close its doors to make way for something no one asked for nor wants.

Please sign our petition to keep SW9 where it should be in our community.

We just hit 100 signatures and this proves these greedy hotel developers have no idea who they are dealing with. They think they can just roll over a Brixton institution for their own profit but this neighborhood is ready to fight back.

SW9 is a great bar, intimate, local & friendly which is a rarity as Brixton becomes more of a destination town, where locals find it hard to find somewhere to enjoy that isn't crowded or indundated with people arriving for a night out.

I've been going to SW9 for more than 15 years, it's a great bar and community space that must be protected. And another queer business being edged out for financial gain for a faceless third party company.

This is a great bar, great location and means a lot to people - for me it's where I went for a drink offer finding my dream home, where I've celebrated birthdays and made a normal Sunday extraordinary with the help of their killer Espresso Martinis. This is a local institution.

SW9 Bar has long been an iconic part of Brixton's social scene and it will be a sad day without it. We need more of these special unique places, not more expensive flats. I've been going to the bar for years and it has a special, unique vibe.

I used to work here with two of my friends- and had the best time. It seems commonplace in Brixton to threaten to remove independent establishments, which culturally have been woven into the areas history, The customers are a great reflection of this bar- in the sense that they are all fab and lovely.

I used to come to SW9 when I lived in Brixton all the time with my best friends, so many great memories. And every time I go back to London to visit SW9 is always one of the places we have to go and catch up! Would be a real shame to see yet another Brixton gem lost to gentrification.
