Wigan Soccerdome was built with funding from the National Lottery with a stipulation that it should be for use by the community. Consequently schools have always used it for free, and thousands in the community from under eight year-olds to those over eighty have enjoyed using it each week. Now though, the closure of Wigan Soccerdome for public use has been announced.

Such a shame, but the tenant Powerleague is effectively bust as the business just didn't make money. If WAFC are taking over to use for the academy surely they can open it up for the general public when not in use
This was a gift from the national lottery for children in the community for help in keeping children active it’s also used for league tournament for u9’ & U8’s teams where will these teams & the children play?
This facility should continue to provide activities such as ‘walking football’ for people within the community of a certain age. It’s vital for good health and well-being.
Have been playing six aside there last 19 years on a Monday night and last 18 months walking football on a Wednesday,a great place with fantastic staff,3/4 thousand people use this facility every week and it's an absolute disgrace that this has been allowed to happen
My son like many other children has grown up playing football at the soccer dome with out this facility I don’t see what else in Wigan can offer the range of indoor and outdoor pitches used to coach, train and play The soccer done needs investment and some refurbishment not turning into a youth academy for a select few
My son loves going to the football sessions here
My two children play football here every week and have been to countless parties. In a time when healthy lifestyles and fitness are being promoted by NHS and grass routes football is being promoted by the FA; it seems ridiculous to close a facility without offering a suitable and appropriate alternative - which is of the same standard. This is a decision which will impact greatly on people of all ages, right across the Wigan community.

My Grandson goes there every Saturday football training with hundreds of kids, so how my team wigan athletic can close it is behond me as we are a community club
